October 12, 2025 Topwater Tournament

The topwater bite continues. Steve and I weighed 13.80 on topwaters in yesterday’s Legends tournament and won. The guys in 2nd had the big fish 8lbs caught on a buzzbait. The fish were busting shad and dragonflies most of the day. We saw several catch dragonflies that were hovering a few feet high. Some of these fish should join the circus and jump through hoops. They were dialed in.. Interested in a trip give me a buzz.. 🎣

After a slooooow couple weeks everything changed today. I bumped into a couple areas holding aggressive fish from 2-6lbs. No giants but fun topwater action catching 15-20 fish. Hydrila is starting to show in different places and the fish are popn. The usual deep scopn guys have caught a few nice ones lately but topwater action is hard to beat for fun. Water temps have dropped and we’ve lost some water recently but the Fall bite is turning on. Call to book a trip. 

August: Its been the typical fun Summer heat with scattered afternoon showers including a few days with a 10-15mph North wind. The front did seem to slow the bite but we still caught fish. The entire month we caught fish from topwater to 30ft and often on the same day. Fall is just around the corner and that means weekly football and big fish munching on swimbaits. July: Approx 10ft of rising water and the fish were jumping in the boat the past couple days. We had a blast. So much that the guys are coming back again next week. We caught 50 fish on Topwater, spinnerbaits, and Tx rigs. Our largest in the boat was 6lb range and of course the big ones got away ha. Flooded brush is lake-wide. Thick brush and weeds are from the surface and out 10-15ft. Deeper than that and it’s the older flooded brush. In other words fish are in heaven. Bait is all over the lake deep and shallow.. Scopers are catching suspended fish out over deep water and the crappie are there with them. We caught several crappie in a short time along bluff walls. Summer fishing fun is happening on Ivie.
